The Bloodline in the Ballroom

The Bloodline in the Ballroom

Act I: The Price of a Broken Glass

The grand ballroom was suffocatingly bright. Under the blazing light of a dozen massive crystal chandeliers, the high ceilings and ornate classical architecture glowed with an artificial perfection. Pink and white balloons drifted near the massive floral arrangements, celebrating a lavish mid-30s birthday gala. The air was filled with the low hum of expensive small talk—until the sharp, echoing CRASH of a silver tray shattered the music.

Adeline, the birthday host, stood frozen in her shimmering teal sequin evening gown. Her diamond statement necklace and large teardrop earrings caught the light as she stared down at the spilled champagne pooling around her expensive heels. Her elegant updo didn't have a single hair out of place, but her face was twisted in a sharp, elitist fury.

The camera subtly panned up to the young maid standing before her in a beige and brown server uniform. The girl's dark hair was tied back in a neat bun, but her left cheek carried a fresh, raw, bloody cut—the result of a broken glass shard that had flying upward during the collision. The girl’s breath was shallow, sharp, and terrified.

Adeline stepped forward, her voice dropping into a harsh, venomous whisper that cut through the sudden silence of the room. "Look what you've done! You’ve ruined the entire opening toast!"

The young maid stood her ground, her small shoulders trembling under the uniform. Slowly, she lowered her hand from her face, revealing the full extent of the fresh cut. Tears welled up in her dark eyes, glistening under the bright chandeliers. The high-society crowd in the background stood completely frozen, watching the wealthy host humiliate a servant.
