Chapter 46 - The Final DawnThe roar of military helicopter rotors shattered the quiet morning air above the warehouse.

Mateo and Laura stood in the center of the compound, holding their children tightly. The heavy metal gates were violently cut open by federal troops wearing full tactical gear, bearing the insignia of the Mexican Marines.
A tall officer walked into the compound, flanked by heavily armed guards.
"Mateo Castillo?" the officer asked.
Mateo nodded, handing the heavy black ledger to the man.
The officer opened it, scanning the first few pages. His eyes widened in absolute shock as he read the names of the most powerful men in the state.
"You have no idea what you've just done, son," the officer said, closing the book with a heavy thud. "You just decapitated the entire political infrastructure of Jalisco."
"Is Hector Vargas in custody?" Mateo asked, his voice exhausted but firm.
"Marine strike teams breached the Zapopan compound ten minutes ago," the officer confirmed. "Hector Vargas was arrested trying to flee in a private helicopter. The local police who responded to the initial attack have also been detained for corruption."
Laura let out a long, shuddering breath, burying her face in Mateo’s shoulder. It was finally, truly over. The dragon had been slain.
"We need to get you and your family out of the city immediately," the officer ordered. "You are the primary witness for the federal prosecution. You will be relocated to a safe zone in the capital under permanent protection."
Mateo looked at the small, concrete office where Silva had planned his final mission.
"What about Silva?" Mateo asked. "The retired federale who helped me."
The officer’s expression softened slightly. "We found his body at the compound gates. He died fighting. We will ensure he is buried with full military honors."
Mateo nodded solemnly. The ghost had finally found his rest.
The Marines escorted the family into an armored transport vehicle.
As the heavy doors closed, sealing them in absolute safety, Mateo looked at Emiliano.
The little boy was wide awake, staring at his father with profound awe.
"Did you win, Papa?" Emiliano asked softly.
Mateo reached out, gently ruffling his son's hair. He looked at Laura, holding Jimena close, her eyes filled with a fierce, unbreakable love.

"Yes, Emiliano," Mateo smiled, a genuine, unburdened smile. "The knight won. And the monsters are gone forever."
The transport vehicle pulled away, driving into the bright, clear light of the morning sun. The Shadow Game was permanently over. They weren't hiding anymore. They were free.
