Chapter 1

The rain poured across the Ashford mansion courtyard.
Servants watched from under the marble archways.
Security guards stood nearby.
And in the middle of it all, a homeless boy knelt beside a metal tub.
His clothes were soaked.
His shoes were torn.
Yet his hands were gentle as he poured warm water over Emily's feet.
The billionaire's daughter stared at him.
Confused.
Curious.
Hopeful.
“You really think I can walk again?” she whispered.
The boy smiled softly.
“My grandmother always said miracles start when someone believes.”
For a moment, Emily forgot about doctors.
Forgot about wheelchairs.
Forgot about being told “never.”
Then something happened.
A tiny movement.
So small that nobody should have noticed.
But the boy did.
Her toe moved.
His eyes widened instantly.
“I saw it.”
Emily froze.
“No...”
She looked down at her foot.
Then tried again.
Another movement.
This time larger.
The water rippled around her ankle.
Before either child could speak—
“STOP!”
A furious voice exploded across the courtyard.
Victor Ashford stormed down the stairs.
Security rushed behind him.
The servants scattered.
“What is this boy doing near my daughter?”
The homeless child immediately backed away.
“I wasn't hurting her, sir—”
“Get away from her!”
Victor grabbed one of Emily's crutches.
Then everything changed.
Emily pressed her foot against the bottom of the tub.
And felt it.
Actually felt it.
For the first time in two years.
The entire courtyard went silent.
The rain.
The guards.
The servants.
Even Victor stopped breathing.
Emily looked up in terror.
Because her leg was responding.
The homeless boy whispered:
“She can feel it.”
Victor stared at his daughter.
Then slowly lowered the crutch from his hand.
His voice cracked.
“Emily...”
Tears filled her eyes.
She tightened her grip on the crutches.
Then, trembling from head to toe...
May you like
She released one hand.
And started to rise.
