Chapter 32 - The Erasure of a Legacy
With Teresa locked away for life and Ricardo vanished, the massive Valdés corporate empire was left in legal limbo. The board of directors, terrified of being implicated in the scandals, desperately reached out to Daniel, begging him to return and stabilize the falling stock prices.
Daniel returned to the towering glass skyscraper one last time, but he did not go to rule. He went to dismantle.
Sitting at the head of the boardroom table, he looked at the anxious executives.
"I am not coming back," Daniel announced, his voice carrying absolute authority. "The Valdés name is permanently tainted by blood and corruption. I am authorizing the immediate liquidation of the primary holding company."
The executives erupted in panicked protests, but Daniel silenced them with a raised hand.
"The assets will be sold. The massive fifty-million-dollar trust my mother tried to protect will be entirely donated to charities supporting victims of domestic violence and human trafficking," Daniel declared. "The empire dies today."
He signed the final liquidation papers, effectively erasing the toxic legacy of his family from the corporate world. He didn't want a single peso of the blood money. He wanted a clean slate for his daughter.

When he walked out of the building, he felt lighter than he ever had in his entire life. He drove back to the coast, leaving the skyline of the city in his rearview mirror.
