Chapter 10 - A New Dawn
The emergency backup lights kicked in, bathing the room in a dim, eerie red glow.
Daniel lay on the floor, the scalpel buried deep in his chest, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. Dead.
Beatriz was gone. The heavy steel door to the emergency exit was wide open, leading out into the rainy night.
Gabriel was on his knees, clutching a severe stab wound to his shoulder, gasping for air.
Elena ripped herself free from the remaining straps and scrambled to the floor. She rushed to the corner of the room where the struggle had happened. The room was deathly quiet, except for the sound of the rain outside.
She looked down.
The bassinet was knocked over. The blankets were empty.
Elena’s heart shattered. She sprinted out the emergency exit, bursting into the freezing rain. The facility sat on a cliff overlooking the roaring Atlantic Ocean.
A hundred yards away, standing right at the edge of the jagged cliff, was a silhouette. The rain beat down furiously, making it hard to see.
The figure turned around.
It wasn't Beatriz.
It was a young woman, drenched in rain, holding the newborn baby tightly against her chest. Elena stopped dead in her tracks.
The woman looked exactly like a younger version of Rosa.
"Rosa's daughter..." Elena whispered, her voice caught in her throat.
The young woman smiled, but it wasn't a smile of relief. It was a cold, calculating look that Elena had seen somewhere before. The woman took a step backward, her heel dangling over the edge of the sheer drop into the black ocean below.
From the shadows behind the woman, a hand reached out and rested on her shoulder. A hand wearing a familiar, elegant gold ring.
Beatriz’s voice echoed over the sound of the crashing waves, carrying a chilling final truth:
"You thought Rosa was the victim, Elena? She was the one who started this game thirty-five years ago. Now, say goodbye to the Valdés heir."

The woman stepped off the cliff.
Elena screamed, lunging forward into the dark—as the screen cuts to black.
