Chapter 2 — The Collapse of Control

Within one hour, everything Damian owned began to unravel.

Board members resigned mid-call.
Investors pulled out without explanation.
His name disappeared from internal systems like it had never mattered.

Veronica tried to leave first, but security stopped her at the door.

“You can’t do this!” she shouted, turning back toward Elena. “Do you know who I am?”

Elena finally smiled.

A small, tired expression.

“Yes,” she said. “Temporary.”

Damian stood in the center of the room, stripped of power for the first time in his life. His voice cracked when he spoke.

“You planned this… from the beginning?”

Elena adjusted her sleeve.

“No,” she replied. “I didn’t plan this moment.”

She stepped closer.

“I built the system you were using. I just stopped pretending I wasn’t in control of it.”

The executive handed her a final document.

“Asset transfer is complete,” he said. “The board is waiting for your directive.”

Elena didn’t look at it immediately. Instead, she looked at Damian one last time.

There was no anger left.

Only finality.

“You called me an expense,” she said quietly. “That was your mistake.”

Then she turned away.

“Liquidate his holdings.”

Damian’s phone lit up with notifications he couldn’t stop. His empire—gone in minutes.
