Carmen stood up so fast her espresso cup rattled against the saucer. "Alexander Warren? The... the developer?"
"The very same," Alexander said, pulling out a chair and sitting down, crossing one leg over the other. "It turns out your luxury penthouse is leased under a corporate subsidiary of Robles & Associates. A subsidiary that relies entirely on a $12 million commercial line of credit from Texas Legacy Bank."
Alexander smiled, but his eyes remained dead, lifeless, and black.
"I happen to sit on the board of directors for Texas Legacy Bank. At 0730 hours, the board held an emergency meeting. "You can't do that!" Javier shouted, his voice cracking as the realization of financial ruin began to pierce his arrogance. "That lease is secure!"
"It was secure," Alexander corrected. "Until I bought the holding company that owns the physical building. Your lease is terminated for breach of the moral turpitude clause. You have until noon to pack your trash and leave the property."
"This is blackmail!" Carmen shrieked, her expensive gold jewelry clinking violently as she shook her fist at him. "We will sue you! My son is a brilliant attorney!"
