Chapter 6 - The Traitor Unmasked

Dr. Burke and the CPS workers practically sprinted out of the mansion, leaving a furious Matteo Moretti standing in the driveway.
"This isn't over, Pellegrini!" Matteo screamed toward the upper windows. "You can't protect her forever!"
Inside the study, Lorenzo was reviewing the security footage of the evaluation. His eyes were dark with a new, terrifying realization. "The Morettis knew exactly when our daytime medical staff left. They knew the internal layout of the house. We have a mole, Vincent."
Vincent stood by the door, his posture rigid. "I will audit the security logs immediately, sir."
"No need, Vincent," Emma said, entering the study with a stack of old ledger books she had found in the mansion's basement archives during her night shifts. As an experienced nurse, she knew how to read administrative discrepancies. "The leak isn't among the guards. It’s in the pharmacy deliveries."
She placed a ledger on the desk, pointing to a series of altered signatures.
"For the last three weeks, Sophia's nighttime anti-nausea medication has been signed out by the house manager's office, but the actual dosage delivered to her room was diluted with saline. Someone was intentionally making her sicker, ensuring she remained unresponsive for the evaluation."
Lorenzo stood up slowly, his gaze shifting from the ledger directly to Vincent.
Vincent’s polished facade suddenly cracked. His hand drifted toward his waist, but before his fingers could touch his firearm, three of Lorenzo's personal bodyguards burst through the side doors, pinning the old house manager against the wall.
"Juliana trusted you, Vincent," Lorenzo said, his voice a freezing whisper that filled the room with the scent of death. "My father gave you your life. And you sold my daughter to the Morettis for a piece of their shipping docks."

"They... they were going to destroy us anyway, Lorenzo!" Vincent gasped, his face turning purple under the guard's grip. "The girl is a liability! A sick child cannot rule an empire!"
"Take him to the basement," Lorenzo ordered coldly. "And call the captains. It’s time to end the Moretti family once and for all."
