Chapter 2 - A Husband's Betrayal

Suddenly, a figure came sprinting out of an abandoned house by the tracks. It was Rosa, the family's longtime housekeeper. She had followed Victoria after overhearing a suspicious phone call with Daniel.
Seeing Elena trapped inside the death trap, Rosa tackled Victoria to the dirt.
"You monster!" Rosa screamed.
The old housekeeper frantically scrambled through the tall grass, searching for the key, but the weeds were too thick and the train was moving too fast. Desperate, Rosa grabbed a heavy jagged rock and slammed it against the passenger window until the glass spiderwebbed and caved in.
"Hold on, child! I’m getting you out!" Rosa yelled, shoving her arm through the shattered hole to reach the inside door handle.
Before she could pull it, tires screeched on the gravel road. A sleek sedan pulled up, and Daniel—Elena’s husband—leaped out.
Elena’s heart surged with a desperate burst of relief. "Daniel! Help us!" she sobbed.
Daniel sprinted to the car, but instead of helping, he grabbed Rosa from behind in a chokehold and yanked her away from the window.
"Let me go!" Rosa fought back, kicking wildly. "Your wife is in there! She’s carrying your child!"
Without a word, Daniel pulled a spare key from his pocket, unlocked the back door, shoved the old housekeeper into the rear seat, and slammed it shut. He grabbed a heavy wooden beam from the nearby debris, jamming it firmly between the side of the car and a metal signpost—effectively wedging the rear door and the broken window completely shut.
He stepped back toward his mother. Victoria straightened her coat, looking at her son with cold pride. "I knew you’d choose your family," she purred.

Daniel stared at the car locked onto the steel rails, his eyes dead and hollow.
"Now both of them die," he muttered.
