PART 8: THE PENTHOUSE SEIZURE

The morning sun over Manhattan was sharp and cold, cutting through the glass towers of Central Park South.

At 7:15 a.m., Madeline Vance stood in the kitchen of her luxury penthouse, pouring espresso into a porcelain mug. She wore a silk house dress, her blonde hair perfectly arranged as she listened to the distant city traffic below.

The elevator doors that opened directly into her private foyer suddenly chimed with a loud, electronic override code.

The doors slid back, and three federal marshals stepped onto the marble floor, followed by Sophia’s legal team’s senior investigator. He carried a certified federal asset-seizure warrant bearing a bright red wax seal from the Department of Justice.

"Madeline Vance?" the lead marshal asked, his voice completely stripped of politeness. "We are executing an emergency asset forfeiture order issued by the Cook County District Court. This property has been identified as the product of grand larceny and corporate embezzlement."

Madeline dropped her espresso mug. It struck the marble island and shattered, dark liquid spreading across the floor right next to her designer slippers, an exact mirror of the porcelain vase that had shattered in Greenwich.

"What is the meaning of this?" Madeline category stammered, her face turning an immediate shade of ash. "Michael Miller bought this apartment! The deed is perfectly legal!"

"The deed was secured using a forged power of attorney from Sophia Miller," the investigator said, stepping forward and placing a separation document on the counter. "Every single dollar used to clear the closing costs was siphoned from her private heritage trust. You have exactly twenty minutes to pack one suitcase before the lock codes are changed permanently."

"Michael will fix this!" Madeline shrieked, her voice hoarse with panic. "He’s an executive!"

"Michael is currently being detained at the federal holding facility because his bail was revoked ten minutes ago," the investigator replied coldly. "Your diamond bracelet is also listed as a stolen corporate asset. Please remove it now."
