Chapter 2 - The Irrevocable Trust

Suddenly, the front door swung open. Attorney Gabriel Reyes walked in, flanked by a forensic auditor, two armed security guards, and the company's former Chief Financial Officer.
Setting an antique wooden box down on the coffee table, Attorney Reyes explained, "Before his passing, her father established an irrevocable family trust. He knew his daughter might sacrifice everything for love, so he placed 51% of the voting shares, all corporate patents, and the ownership of the parent companies inside this trust."
The husband’s face went completely ghost-white.
Attorney Reyes continued ruthlessly, "All you ever managed to grab were a few weak subsidiaries and operating accounts. You never had true control."
The woman looked at her husband, years of silent sacrifice flashing before her eyes. "Before I married you, I managed over three thousand employees. I built my own company, negotiated multi-million-dollar deals, and never depended on a soul. But you told me you wanted a wife who put family first. Your mother said a good woman stays home, raises children, and serves her husband."
Tears welled in her eyes, but her voice did not waver. "I stepped down from the board. I handed you the management, and I used my own personal wealth to bail out your family’s crumbling business. This villa, your sports car, your mother's diamonds, even the booze you drown yourself in—every cent came from me. And the moment I became exhausted from taking care of our newborn son, you called me a burden."
Panic setting in, the husband’s tone instantly softened. He took a desperate step forward, reaching for her hand. "I... I didn't know about the trust! My mother forced me into this. We can start over, honey. Please..."
Before he could touch her, the auditor opened her tablet and pressed play on an audio file. The husband's voice echoed through the room with terrifying clarity:
“As soon as she signs the power of attorney, transfer the funds to the new shell company. Then we’ll claim she has severe postpartum depression so we can take full custody of the baby.”

Then came the mother-in-law’s cold reply:
“Once we have the child, we’ll control his inheritance too.”
