Chapter 36: The Signal and the Strike

Vincent Moretti raised his hand, a signal for his hidden snipers in the upper concourse to take their shots. But before his fingers could drop, the massive electronic information boards across the terminal flickered violently.

Instead of train schedules, the massive screens began to scroll through thousands of lines of code—the private bank accounts, the home addresses, and the illegal transaction records of every Moretti capo in the state. Harper had provided the keys to Marco’s tech crews hours ago. It was a public execution of their anonymity.

"What is that?!" Vincent roared, his head snapping around to look at the scrolling text.

"That's your retirement plan, Vincent," Enzo said, his hands coming out of his pockets, revealing two suppressed weapons. "Every soldier on your payroll is currently being mapped by the FBI. You aren't a Don anymore. You’re a liability."

The shadows in the upper concourse erupted not with Moretti gunfire, but with the quiet, rhythmic thud-thud of Marco’s tactical teams, who had infiltrated the terminal via the old abandoned track lines beneath the Waldorf Astoria hours before. The four mercenaries flanking Vincent dropped to the marble floor before they could draw their weapons.

Vincent Moretti was left standing alone beneath the amber light of the clock, his empire dissolving on the screens above him.
