Chapter 10 - FOLDER THREEFolder Three contained copies of emails Dad printed.

He hated digital archives.
“Paper doesn’t update itself.”
He used to say.
One exchange between Julian and Rebecca Sloan:
JULIAN:
Need North Field to bill another 42 this month.
REBECCA:
For what scope?
JULIAN:
Riverside / sourcing catch-up. Split it if easier.
REBECCA:
That’s higher than the actual hours.
JULIAN:
We’ll true up later.
REBECCA:
Marlow needs 60 by Friday.
JULIAN:
I know.
There.
Not proof Dad never approved.
But evidence that invoice amount was being shaped by Marlow’s needs rather than Mercer work.
Another:
REBECCA:
If Thomas asks, I did supplier coordination.
JULIAN:
He won’t.
That hurt.
Not me.
Dad.
Because eventually he did ask.
Julian’s attorney stopped pretending the emails were harmless.
He moved to context.
Maybe they referred to advance billing.
Maybe later credits offset.
Forensic review would test that.
Good.
No leap.

But I saw Julian’s shoulders change when the email was read.
He knew the room had shifted.
