Chapter 11 - THE FLASH DRIVEWe finally examined the USB under documented conditions.

Samuel had it copied by a forensic vendor before anyone opened files directly.
Dad had recorded himself.
Not one dramatic video.
Four short statements over six weeks.
Timestamped but still needing authentication.
The first showed him at his desk.
Thin.
Sweater.
Voice weak.
“If you’re seeing this, I am probably dead or too sick to finish what I started.”
I started crying immediately.
Julian stared at the screen.
Dad continued:
“I do not know whether Julian stole from me.”
My brother’s head lifted.
Not:
Julian stole.
I do not know.
Dad was careful.
“I know there are documents carrying my signature that I do not remember signing.”
He paused for breath.
“I know memory is not proof.”
Samuel looked at me.
Of course Dad would say that.
He built a company by checking tolerances twice.
“I asked the bank to review device records and approvals. I asked Samuel to protect the company from a family argument becoming a business disaster.”
Then:
“Elena, if you are watching, do not turn this into revenge.”
I covered my mouth.
Julian looked at me.
Dad continued:
“Julian, if you are watching, tell the truth before other people tell it for you.”
The video ended.
No confession.
May you like
No accusation.
Only Dad, refusing to simplify his own son.
