Through counsel, she told investigators:

North Field did real sourcing and project coordination for Mercer.

But Julian sometimes asked her to bill above actual work.

The understanding was that later work would “catch up.”

Sometimes it did.

Sometimes not.

Why agree?

Because Marlow needed cash.

Because Julian was her business partner.

Because Mercer always paid.

Because she rationalized that she would deliver equivalent value eventually.

That is how ordinary fraud often sounds.

Temporary.

Catch up.

No one loses.

She denied forging Dad’s signature.

Denied accessing Mercer’s banking.

Denied knowing which line-of-credit draws Dad actually approved.

Her cooperation narrowed her exposure later.

It also made Julian’s explanation harder.
