Chapter 12 - NAOMI’S PAPERWORKNaomi did not merely have the fake divorce decree.

She had a folder Austin prepared before their marriage.
He called it:
“The boring legal stuff.”
Inside:
Decree.
Property statement.
Business financial summary.
Life-insurance form.
A prenuptial agreement draft they ultimately did not sign.
The business summary claimed Hale Motor Restoration had no secured debt beyond equipment financing.
False.
It had substantial obligations.
Was lying to a fiancée about business debt a crime?
Not automatically.
The life-insurance application mattered more.
Austin had applied for a new policy after marrying Naomi.
Beneficiary:
Naomi.
Marital status:
Married.
Prior marriage:
Divorced.
Again the fake status.
Not a payout.
No insurance murder plot.
Administrative fraud questions, perhaps.
But prosecutors did not turn every lie into a felony.
May you like
