PART 12: THE LONDON INTERCEPT

PART 12: THE LONDON INTERCEPT

The London fog was a thick, impenetrable shroud that wrapped around the historic stone facades of Whitehall as Samantha’s car pulled up to the gated entrance of Ironclad Defense Headquarters. The Victorian building had been completely retrofitted with ballistic glass windows, counter-surveillance arrays, and armed private guards.

Samantha walked through the security checkpoints with absolute, aristocratic poise, her black trench coat framing her tall silhouette. Marcus followed half a step behind, carrying a secure digital briefcase containing the decrypted Swiss token registries.

They were escorted to the top-floor executive suite, where Sir Reginald Vance sat behind a massive desk of dark English oak. He was in his late seventies, his chest decorated with old service medals, his eyes as cold and grey as the Thames river outside the window.

"Miss Kensington," Reginald said, his voice a crisp, upper-class British accent that carried the weight of fifty years of covert authority. "You’ve caused a significant amount of disruption in my family's affairs. My nephew is in a federal penitentiary, my sister is living in a rented apartment in New Jersey, and my brother-in-law is ruined. You've been a very busy young woman."

Samantha sat in the leather chair opposite him, her hands folded neatly in her lap. "Your family tried to use corporate forgery and financial extortion to steal my father's life’s work, Sir Reginald. I simply corrected the anomaly."

Reginald poured himself a cup of tea from a silver service, his hand perfectly steady. "Oliver was an arrogant child. He handled the New York property transfer with the clumsy desperation of a street thief. He should have never used a local notary. But don't mistake his failure for my weakness, Miss Kensington. Ironclad Defense operates above the jurisdiction of your American courts. The transactions you hold are masked by national security non-disclosure agreements. You have no leverage here."

"I don't need an American court warrant to deal with you, Sir Reginald," Samantha said, her voice dropping into that quiet, terrifying rhythm of a checkmate. "The custom tokens you used to fund Julian Vane's server attack weren't private assets. They were minted using a specific cryptographic hash that belongs to your firm's primary government software—The Aegis Grid."

Reginald’s hand froze mid-air, the silver teacup hovering an inch above the porcelain saucer. The absolute arrogance in his grey eyes suddenly transformed into a sharp, defensive glare.

"I ran the architecture of those tokens through our new Kensington AI server yesterday," Samantha continued, leaning forward, her face a mask of cold, intellectual dominance. "The hash matches the secure communications protocol used by the British Ministry of Defence. You didn't use corporate funds to finance a private felony in New York, Sir Reginald. You used classified government utility tokens. You misappropriated military intelligence assets to commit a private corporate raid."

Marcus Vance opened his briefcase, turning the screen of his tablet toward the old intelligence officer. The screen displayed a live, verified copy of the British Auditor General’s internal investigation log, showing that an emergency compliance file had just been opened under Reginald's personal identification code.

"If that file goes public," Samantha whispered, the words hitting the silent room like a sequence of bullets, "Ironclad loses its government defense contracts by noon tomorrow. Your legacy won't just be ruined, Sir Reginald. You will be stripped of your titles and court-martialed for treason."
