Chapter 21 - Michael’s counterattack ends

Michael resisted longer.

He believed he had a defense.

Then digital evidence accumulated.

Draft video folders.

Subscriber posts.

Messages.

Hardware receipt.

Canceled appointment.

My hidden recordings.

One especially damaging text to Patricia:

Keep door locked if I’m not there. She’ll run to Erin and make this look insane.

Patricia:

It is insane.

Michael:

You know what I mean.

That text ruined his preferred story that the latch was merely fall prevention.

Another:

Don’t post tonight’s clip until I cut the part where she says no.

There.

Not ambiguity.

Editorial choice.

He knew my refusal existed.

He knew the audience should not hear it.

Eventually Michael entered a plea too.

Serious unlawful restraint.

Domestic-violence offense.

A count associated with administering or facilitating harmful nonprescribed substances without consent.

An evidence/tampering-related offense tied to deleting or editing parts of footage after police contact? Investigators recovered cloud backups showing he deleted several raw files after I escaped but before police seized his phone.

He claimed he was protecting privacy.

Timing hurt him.

His sentence included incarceration measured in years, not decades.

Then supervision.

No-contact order with me.

Parenting access after release subject to family court and professional evaluation.

No movie judge saying:

You are evil.

The judge said something simpler:

May you like

“Pregnancy did not reduce your wife’s legal personhood.”

That sentence made me cry.
