Chapter 42

CHAPTER 42 — THE GENEVA TRUST

Forty-eight hours later, a private medical transport plane touched down on a restricted runway outside Geneva, Switzerland. Alexander, hooked up to a portable heart monitor, sat in the shadows of the cabin, his face pale but his eyes burning with a dangerous, quiet fury.
Claire sat across from him, staring at a digital map of the Swiss Alps provided by Anna’s underground network.
"Julian wasn't lying about the flight to Switzerland," Anna said, tapping the screen, showing an isolated estate nestled deep within the snow-covered peaks of Saint Moritz. "But he’s not the master of that property. That estate belongs to the Geneva Trust—the supreme council that sits above the Vanguard Enclave. And the man who runs it is Julian’s father, Lord Edward Vance."
"My daughter is a lab rat to them," Claire whispered, her fingers curling around the cold steel of her weapon. "They think because they have her DNA sequence, they own her future."
"They don't just want her DNA anymore, Claire," Alexander grunted, his voice raspy from the trauma to his heart.
"Thomas’s public leak ruined our family name, but it also exposed Vanguard's global routing codes."
"The banking elite are freezing their secondary assets too."
"They need Lily’s live biometric scan to authorize a hard-reset of the entire European banking grid before the Swiss financial courts liquidate their holdings on Friday."

Claire stood up, walking toward the cockpit door as the plane decelerated.
"Then we don't have three days. We have three days to commit a massacre," Claire said, her voice completely devoid of the woman she used to be. The maid's daughter had died in Haven Ridge; the billionaire's sister had died in Fort Preble. Only a mother remained.
