Chapter 8 - THE BLOOD-SIGNED PACT

Inside Room 408, the fluorescent lights hummed with a sickly buzz.
Sarah was strapped to a heavy hospital bed by leather restraint straps.
Her face was pale, and tears streamed down her bruised cheeks onto the white paper sheet.
A thick IV line ran into her arm, dripping a sedative slowly into her bloodstream.
Evelyn stood beside the bed, looking flawless despite the faint red mark on her cheek.
Beside Evelyn stood Dr. Vance, a corrupt, high-priced physician wearing a sterile white coat.
"Sign the clinical confession, Sarah," Evelyn said smoothly, holding a pen near Sarah's weak fingers.
"Admit that you suffered a severe psychotic break and willingly relinquish custody to me," Evelyn instructed.
"Never..." Sarah gasped weakly, fighting against the heavy cloud in her brain.
"You took my son... you hit me..." Sarah whispered, her words slurring from the drug.
"No one believes a certified drug addict, my dear," Evelyn sneered softly.
"Ryan is currently in a police cell, facing twenty years for assault," Evelyn lied with a cold smile.
"If you sign this, I will drop the charges against Ryan," Evelyn bargained falsely.
"He will go free, and you will get the 'help' you need," Evelyn promised.
Sarah looked up at her mother with pure horror and heartbreak.
"You are a monster..." Sarah sobbed, her hand trembling as Evelyn forced the pen between her fingers.
"I am a survivor, Sarah," Evelyn corrected coldly.
"And I will not let you or your weak husband ruin fifty million dollars," Evelyn declared.
Outside in the hallway, the digital lights on the security cameras suddenly flashed green and turned off.
Marcus had successfully breached the basement control system.
At that exact moment, the heavy door at the end of the hall flew open with a violent bang.
Ryan charged down the corridor like a battering ram.
The first guard turned, reaching for his taser, but Ryan hit him with a flying shoulder tackle.
The guard slammed hard into the drywall and crumpled to the floor.
The second guard drew an expandable baton and swung it toward Ryan's head.
Ryan ducked underneath the swing, grabbed the guard's wrist, and twisted it violently outward.
The baton clattered to the floor as Ryan drove a heavy knee into the guard's midsection.
The guard gasped for air and collapsed onto his knees.
Ryan kicked the door of Room 408 open with such force that the lock shattered.
May you like
Evelyn gasped, dropping the pen onto the floor as Ryan burst into the room.
"Get away from my wife!" Ryan roared.
