Chapter 19: The Bloodline Liquidation

The biometric security guards immediately drew their concealed weapons, but the panicked crowd of billionaires running for the exits was too thick, creating a physical barrier. Daniel marched directly toward the center stage, his eyes locked entirely on Clara. She didn't look panicked at all. She looked... completely relieved, as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

"Daniel, you shouldn't have come here," she whispered over the roar of the crowd as he reached the podium.

"It’s over, Clara. I uploaded Sarah's files directly to the main server," Daniel said, his voice ringing with absolute certainty. "In exactly forty-five seconds, every single digital asset tied to Aethelgard, Mendoza Global, and the Phoenix Directive will be permanently, irrevocably frozen by Interpol and the Federal Reserve. The money doesn't exist anymore. You have nothing left to trade to them."

The lead Aethelgard executive pulled a compact, high-caliber pistol from his tailored jacket, aiming it directly at Daniel’s chest. "You think you can ruin a century of careful evolutionary planning with a stolen laptop, boy? We are the foundation of the market!"

Before the executive could pull the trigger, a loud, deafening emergency alarm blared through the hotel's speaker system. The main power lines were cut, plunging the entire grand ballroom into pitch-black darkness.

Terrified screams echoed off the high ceilings. Heavy gunshots rang out in the dark—three, four, five times, the bright muzzle flashes briefly illuminating the chaos. Daniel lunged forward blindly toward the glass bassinet, his arms reaching through the dark for Alejandro. He grabbed the baby tightly against his chest, shielding the infant's fragile body with his own as heavy bodies crashed around him in the blind panic.

When the emergency backup generators finally kicked on ten seconds later, the stage was a bloody crime scene. The Aethelgard executive lay dead on the floor, a bullet hole through his throat.

Clara was entirely gone.

And in Daniel’s arms, baby Alejandro let out a sharp, piercing, and healthy cry.
