Chapter 25: The London Junction

Three weeks later. London, England.

The rain in Piccadilly Circus was relentless, reflecting the giant neon billboards above. Daniel walked through the crowd, wearing a heavy tweed coat, his hand resting inside his pocket over a cold piece of steel. He had left Tomás behind in New Zealand—whether his brother was alive or captured, he didn't know. All he knew was that the drive inside the spare tire had been real.

It led him to a luxury penthouse overlooking the River Thames, registered to a shell company known as The Archon Group.

Daniel bypassed the building's lobby security by using an elevator maintenance override code found on the drive. When the elevator doors opened into the penthouse, the space was vast, minimalist, and dead silent.

Sitting in a wheelchair by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, looking out at the London Eye, was an elderly woman. She looked fragile, her breath assisted by an oxygen machine.

She turned her head slowly. Her eyes were an intense, familiar piercing blue.

"You look just like your grandfather, Daniel," she said, her voice a soft, cultured purr.

Daniel kept his gun lowered but didn't holster it. "Who are you?"

"I am Dr. Evelyn Vance," she said, a faint smile appearing on her withered lips. "I am the geneticist who designed your wife. And I am the true founder of Aethelgard Holdings."
